Augmented Reality: Exploring 4-D Media for the Classroom
Boardroom
Michelle Tharp & Mike McCormick
Through our eyes we are able to view the real and physical world around us, but through the world of Augmented Reality we are able to bring what we view on paper to life. Augmented reality allows us to swim with dolphins, look at catalogs, and view a world in 4-D fashion. Participants will leave this session with new knowledge of apps, hands-on activities and ideas for using Augmented Reality in the classroom. This session requires the use of a tablet. Please download the Aurasma app. It is available on both iOS and android. Other apps that will be demonstrated are Elements 4d, AR Flashcards Animals, and Guiness World Records 2015 See It 3D.
Successful Strategies for the Flipped Classroom
301
Dave DeStefano & Morgan Neccuzi
Research shows that having a flipped classroom can be very beneficial to students, but where do we even begin? In this session, Dave and Morgan will discuss some practices that can help you flip your classroom. Whether you're thinking about trying a flipped classroom and don't know where to start, or you've been flipping it for years and want some more ideas, this session will give you some great ideas and resources to take back to school with you!
Infographics: Presenting Content like a Pro
302
Josh Stark & Jessy Larwa
We see infographics everywhere, but have you ever created one? Better yet, have your students ever created one? This session will teach you eight steps to making an infographic and give you plenty of time to create an infographic and share how to use this visual tool in your classroom to increase learning and engagement. This session is suitable for those with laptops and tablets.
Formative Assessment with Digital Games
303
Mary DePriest & Megan Hatfield
Bring some fun and competition into your classroom reviews. In this workshop, you will get to play and later create games using FlipQuiz, Kahoot, Quizizz and Quizlet.live. These web resources are great for classrooms with one device, just a few devices or are one to one. Games are a great alternative way to present repetitious but necessary tasks such as multiplication tables or vocabulary or just for review. Join Megan and Mary for a workshop designed to give you fun options for formative assessment.
